Warren
is a small, rural town in the Litchfield Hills of northwestern Connecticut. The population is approximately 1,400. A very interesting bit of trivia about the town is that in 2006, local businessman, Joseph Cicio, placed most of the town of Warren's commercial district on eBay for $5,000,000. Warren was settled in 1737 as part of the town of Kent, but separated in 1756 with a group that called themselves the Society of East Greenwich. Warren then incorporated as a separate town in 1786. The town of Warren is mostly a rural, agricultural community and also an educational center, home to five private schools and an academy. Nearby attractions include Lake Waramaug, which offers swimming, picnicking and camping. The whole area is full of scenic drives, past covered bridges, wooded hills, lakes, and peaceful farms. Springtime brings "sugaring off" of the maple trees, summer offers hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, canoeing and kayaking. Autumn is an especially pretty time to visit when the leaves show their brilliant colors, and wintertime turns Connecticut into a picture straight out of a Currier & Ives painting. Warren is also near the wintertime ski areas at Mohawk Mountain in Cornwall, and in New Hartford and Woodbury.

Central Connecticut has a generally temperate, four-season climate. The state lies within the transition zone of humid subtropical and a humid continental. Connecticut receives some 25 to 60 in of snow each year. The average annual snowfall increases from the coast to the northwestern corner of the State. Temperatures are comparatively uniform across the state. The number of days with minimum temperatures of zero or below average about five in the lower uplands and central valley. Thunderstorms occur on an average of 20 to 30 days per year, with the greatest frequency during the summer months and in the afternoon or evening. The humidity tends to be lowest in the spring and highest in the late summer and early fall.
